Street Seats 2023

Street Seats 2023 is a program launched by the New York City Department of Transportation to maximize public seating throughout the city. In partnership with School of Constructed Environments, Parsons School of Design, this public seating structure was designed and built by a multidisciplinary group of students. This year our design intention was due to the strike that occurred in our university last year which created an opportunity for students from all colleges within The New School to meet, organize, dance, and shout together in support of the part-time faculty. We created a space for students and community members to gather, collaborate, be used for programming, and integrate plant life and greenery.
